SCRIP Gift Card Program

WHAT IS IT?  It is fundraising while you shop.

HOW DOES IT WORK?  The WNPTO sells you gift cards from your favorite stores, and you go shopping.  We purchase them at bulk rates, so we get a percentage of the profits.

WHY IT WORKS: The beauty of scrip is that you put your regular household shopping dollars to work. You earn money for our school without spending a single additional penny.  Just spend your regular shopping dollars with SCRIP Gift Cards at the stores that participate in the SCRIP Gift Card program!  And SCRIP Gift Cards can be used for just about any household purchase including food, clothing, entertainment, gasoline and even dining out.

WHAT IS THE CATCH?  The hard part is rethinking your budget, and planning around the SCRIP order dates.  We will send out the order forms at different times of the school year.  You send us your order on a specified date along with a check to the WNPTO and we order your gift cards.

HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE TO GET MY GIFT CARDS? Approximately 1-2 weeks.

HOW DO I GET MY GIFT CARDS? You can choose one of three options: we can mail them to you in a self addressed stamped envelope, we can send them home in your child’s backpack, or you can pick them up at an assigned time and place.

WHAT IS THE BENEFIT? It is a great way to do your regular shopping or shop for the upcoming holidays, all the while benefiting the Page.  You do not need to buy anything you would not normally buy, just the things you usually buy, such as gas, food, dining out, and of course, all those holiday gifts!

Orders are due Friday, December 2nd. Gift cards will be coming home Friday, December 9th.

Please consider purchasing gift cards for the Holiday Helper Program – Pettengill House. The gift cards will be used to help local families in need for the holidays. Great options for families are: Kmart, Walmart, CVS, TJMaxx/Marshalls.

Fall Book Fair

The book fair will be held December 5th – December 8th, 2016.

Fair Schedule

  • Monday, December 5th – 8:30 am – 3:00 pm (closed 11:45 – 12:30)
  • Tuesday, December 6th – 8:30 am – 4:00 pm (closed 12:00 – 1:00)
    Extra Hours 1:00 – 4:00 pm
  • Wednesday, December 7th – 8:30 am – 3:00 pm (closed 12:00 – 1:00)
  • Thursday, December 8th – 8:30 am – 12:00 pm (closed 12:00 – 5:00)
    Family Night 5:00 – 8:00 pm

Extra Hours and Family Night are scheduled the same times as parent-teacher conferences.

Please come visit the fair before or after your conference(s). Learn about the “All for Books” program, donate $1, then write a “pencil-gram” for delivery to your child’s desk. Students (or parents) can also donate $.50 to the “All for Books” and pull a candy cane for a chance to win a $10 Scholastic gift certificate to spend at the fair.

Students in grades 4 – 6 have schedules that vary, please ask your child or child’s teacher to learn which day he/she will be able to shop. Kindergartners do not shop on their own, parents are welcome to bring them anytime the fair is open.

Please include a note of your child’s spending limits and whether purchases should be limited to books only. Please make checks payable to: “West Newbury PTO” or (“WNPTO”). A 6.25% tax will be added, so plan for that in your spending limits.

Please consider purchasing a book from our fair to donate to “Books for Manhattan” program coordinated by Mrs. Wood. All of your purchases will benefit our school.

Drawing Contests will take place the week of November 28 through December 2. Students will compete with all peers in their grade for a $10 scholastic gift certificate to spend at the fair.

The 2nd Annual Page School Halloween Happenings

Fall into a good book night – Thursday, 10/27 – 6:30-8pm

Students (in your pj’s if you wish) and their families please join us at the Page School for a night of storytelling and book exchanging.  When you arrive, head to the cafeteria with a gently used book you have outgrown and wish to donate.  Then head upstairs to 1 of 4 classrooms where a ‘mystery reader’ will be reading.  When the storytelling is done, head back to the caf to adopt a “new-to-you” book!

***All students must be accompanied by an adult to participate.***

Jack O’Lantern Contest – Friday, 10/28 – 8:30am-3:00pm

It’s our 2nd Annual Page School Jack O’Lantern Contest!  Carve, paint, scrape, bedazzle and/or craft your pumpkin with help at home and bring it into school on Friday morning.  Parent volunteers will meet you in the cafeteria before school and set your bewitching creation on the stage.  Students and staff will have a chance to vote for their favorite creations during their lunch periods.  (battery operated tea lights only please)

Each grade level will have a winner that will be announced at the end of the day!

In-School Door Decorating contest – Friday, 10/28

Our creative Page School staff and students have been hard at work creating Spooktacular Halloween door displays with a STEM theme.  The top 3 winners will be awarded a $25 gift card to a retailer of their choice-, Barnes and Noble or

The pK-2 students can’t wait to see your creations during the Halloween Parade!

2017 Ski/Snowboard Program

The Page School ski program for 4th-6th Grade Students will begin January 6th. The six week program runs every Friday Afternoon at Bradford Mountain starting January 6th through February 10th.

Registration Night will be in the Page School Cafetorium on Wednesday, November 2nd from 6-8pm

Program Fees: Bus Transportation & Lift Ticket: $180
Optional Fees:

  • Ski/Snowboard 6 1-Hr Lessons: $70
  • Ski/Snowboard Equipment Rental: $110
  • Helmet Rental: $30
    (If renting, please come to registration night knowing your child’s height, weight and shoe size.)

Apple Harvest Run

We are looking forward to a fun-filled autumn day with our school community and beyond.

Don’t forget, the first 500 people registered will receive a free t-shirt. All kids who participate in the Fun Run will receive a special keepsake.

We can use your help to make this event a success:

Bake —We are looking for baked goods to feed our runners. Visit our Signup Genius link to help out.

Sign up to volunteer on 10/1 or 10/2 —Volunteers are needed to help set up, work during, and clean up after the race. There are a few time slots on Saturday 10/1 (8:30-10:30) and multiple time slots on 10/2 (times vary between 8:30-2pm). Please email Kate Alsup if you would like to volunteer.

2017 Page School Auction Planning Meeting

Want to learn more about and help to plan the Page School Auction? The auction is held every three years and is our largest fundraiser. The funds raised allow the WNPTO to support many programs at the Page School.

West Newbury PTO Musical for Kindergarten, First, Second, Third Grades

Auditions:   Monday, October 3, 2016, Grades K-3 from 3:00-4:00 p.m. in the Page cafetorium. Everyone who auditions and attends rehearsals will have a part in the production.

This production will be for K-3 students and a winter production will be for grades 4-6 students. Upper grades please stay tuned for info.

K-3 SHOW- Students in Kindergarten, First, Second and Third Grades will be the cast and perform the productions on Friday, November 18, 2016 and Saturday, November 19, 2016. Rehearsals will run from 10/17/16 – 11/11/16. Rehearsals will be at the Page School from 3:00-4:00p.m on Tuesdays and Thursdays.

Sign-up Fee $75.00 first child & $60.00 second child.

Page School Spirit Wear

West Newbury PTO is selling Page School Spirit Wear once again.  You will see some familiar pieces as well as some new performance sports-wick styles, some ladies fit gear, and great new winter hats!

WNPTO/Page School Spirit Wear will only be sold through an online store this year until September 29th. Visit to order.

We are  excited to announce that the Page After School Arts Program (ASAP) Fall sessions will begin the week of September 26th. Please take a moment to review the brochure with your Page student.

We have some wonderful new courses this year as well as the return of favorites.  The BOKS program is included with ASAP this year. Courses will start the week of September 26th and run for 5-6 weeks.

Registrations are on a first come, first serve basis.  Payments can be made by cash or check (payable to WNPTO) and sent in to school as “ASAP Registration”. Please note, once the maximum has been reached for each course, no additional registrations will be accepted.

BOKS is Back!

BOKS, a before school physical activity program, is gearing up for the Fall session.  BOKS prepares children for a day of learning and is an important step in helping children gain an appreciation of the benefits of exercise and healthy choices that will last a lifetime. The BOKS team of trainers are parent volunteers Lindsay Goff, Courtney Lucey, Joy Tewksbury-Pabst and Kelly Woodsum, who have been trained by the Reebok team.

Typical BOKS Class (approximately 40 minutes long):

  • Fun warm-up game or movement drills
  • Running activity, relay races, obstacle courses & strength movements followed by a fun game
  • Cool down & BOKS Bit – a nutrition tip.

When is BOKS?

  • The fall session will run from Tuesday, October 4 – Friday, December 16.
  • Sessions run from 7:20 am (drop-off time) to 8:10 am.
  • BOKS will run every Tuesday and Friday morning, excluding Veterans Day (11/11) and the day after Thanksgiving (11/25).

How do I sign up?

  • Register via the WNPTO ASAP form. A total of 40 students in grades K-6 will be registered on a first come, first served basis.
  • Cost to participate is $40 for the entire 20 morning session and includes a tee-shirt.

How should your child prepare?

  • BOKS kids must arrive in sneakers and with a water bottle ready to participate!
  • We will aim to get outside as often as we can so dress appropriately.
  • BOKS kids should come fueled with a good, healthy breakfast. They may also bring a Page-approved snack from home to eat prior to transitioning to their classrooms.

West Newbury Community Center Planning

West Newbury is in the planning stages of a Community Center.  Page parent Erin Antonopoulos will be attending the planning meetings as the West Newbury PTO rep.  Erin is looking for your input and ideas as to what types of things would be ideal if we had the budget and dream location.  SO…think big and give your input. We will bring all of the input together to create the West Newbury Community Center.

Epilepsy Foundation Clothing Drive

Our clothing drive with the Epilepsy Foundation was a huge success. We collected 3,750 pounds and received a check for $750. It was a great event! I can’t wait to see what we can do next year. Thank you to everyone who donated.


Page School and the WNPTO Hometown Days

The school year is coming to an end, so come spend the afternoon on the Page School backyard and upper parking lot. We will have delicious food, and activities for you and your families. Come before or after your sporting events, and enjoy an afternoon with friends and the West Newbury Family!

What’s happening for fun? Tug of war, family races, spin art crafts, dunk tank, face painting, chalk art…and just some old fashioned town fun!


However, remember that the food trucks, the Dunk tank and a few other activities will be raising money for the WNPTO, so don’t forget your wallets!

Knapp’s Greenhouses Fundraiser

The annual Knapp’s Greenhouses fundraiser will be held on Tuesday, May 3rd from 9:00am – 5:00pm. 10% of the day’s revenue will be donated back to the PTO. Applies to sales both in store and over the phone.

Also includes gift certificates. (Adirondack Chairs not included).

Institution for Savings Coins for a C.A.U.S.E.

As part of the Institution for Savings Coins for a C.A.U.S.E. (Coins Add Up to Support Education) program the WNPTO will be the recipient of funds collected during the month of May. All you need to do is convert your coins into cash at on of the Institution for Savings locations in Newburyport, Salisbury, Ipswich, Rowley and Topsfield. The WNPTO will receive 100% of the 5% user fee charged by the bank.

The closest Institution for Savings is located at 68 Storey Avenue in Newburyport. You can visit their website for other locations.
